Does Enlightenment Require a Context?
May 23rd, 2010 dialogue by Gary and Frank

GARY: Thanks for sending me these thoughts on enlightenment. One major issue I have is that 'enlightenment' or whatever you call it is very rarely discussed in CONTEXT with everything else going on - i.e. evolution of life etc.

So we need to understand the context that surrounds us and if the 'goal' of evolution is to stay in the game, then because everything affects everything else, the human mind and its current way of being will also be affected, that is if we want to stay in the game - not just as an individual life - but for all life, including human.

So I don't see a different way of being to be something that is easily adopted by many people, unless it becomes essential for actually staying in the game of life. I think this scenario is rapidly coming on Planet Mirth!

What this new mind will be, is virtually impossible to predict, as it will emerge from learning what works and what does not work - so it is only in hindsight that we will know.

Ah well Frank, just a few musings. Your thoughts?

FRANK: Of course. The context with everything else is essential. Life does not make sense if we compartmentalize it to only one part. Only the whole of life will do. Evolution is a very important part of life so ignoring it does not make sense. Evolution means that we are always growing and want to be part of the growth of life even though it is pushing us into the unknown. Ignoring it means we are dead with lifeless ideas.

Most people are not interested in the unknown because of the fear but without willing to keep going forward regardless of the fear we simply stagnate and life becomes overwhelming hence we give up.
