Lucky To Be
Alive?
May 22nd, 2011 by Gary Hipworth
- I didn't ask to be born but here I am anyway (a miracle in its own right)
- I didn't get to choose which country but here I am in Australia anyway (lucky bastard)
- I didn't get to choose my family but here I am a Hipworth anyway (mixed feelings on that one)
- I didn't even get to choose my name but here I am called Gary anyway (no big deal)
- I am mortal which means I have not got much to look forward to after I became a senior citizen
- We all live on the same planet, meaning that what you do and what I do affects each other
- No matter that I had no choice in being here, I am still responsible for what I make of my life
- No matter that I had no choice in being here, I am still responsible for the world
- The real miracle is that anything exists; it is totally incomprehensible to my petty mind
Lucky, lucky, lucky, ...
with some minor reservations.
