Wake Up Call
October 2nd, 2010 by Gary Hipworth

Let's cut to the chase. It has taken me 40 years to work out what life on Planet Mirth is all about. For most of that time I was in a boring job, and went along with what my society said was the right thing to do. But that tiny voice in my head would not leave me alone.

And then my younger brother Ray was murdered.

That's when I finally 'got it'.

I am now 100% certain that I am going to die one day and so is every other living creature, including YOU!

Just mull that FACT over in your mind for a few seconds. Are you thinking, 'Yeah, so what? We all know that. But I am not worried about dying.'

There's the problem. We have been conditioned by our society for thousands of years to deny/ ignore/ rationalise/ postpone death or invent lovely fairy tales to create the illusion that there really isn't a problem. You simply go to heaven if you've been a good boy or good girl or you come back as a dog, or you join the mysterious void of nothingness.

Boy, have we been hoodwinked.

But after being violently jerked awake by my brother's tragic death, and then studying evolution and many other things and observing nature I can see very clearly what a fix humanity is in...and it's not our doing!

Evolution is a continuously creative and destructive process that has had a few billion years on Planet Mirth to strut its stuff. What is it doing? Creating new forms, destroying old ones. Then we were created. We are self-conscious creatures that know we will die one day - unlike all other creatures who do not have the ability to foresee their own end. Or in crude terms...we are gods and worms at the same time.

That's why I can look at my dog and feel sad that he will not be around within a few years and yet he is not aware of this pretty vital fact and he cannot look at me with that same sense of impermanence and compassion.

So here's the critical points when we seriously ponder Evolution's Ridiculously Impossible Creation (ERIC or ERICA ie the Alternative female version. Whatever the sex, the same end is foretold!):
So don't just accept things the way they are. You have the power to change them. You are evolutions most ridiculously impossible creation. Unleash your natural creativity and see what happens. You just might astound yourself and many others as well. Be prepared for the inevitable resistance and be smart and build a small committed team to help you change the world.

Enjoy the struggle, the setbacks and the victories. It's all part of the great game of life.
