Is there a universal mind and we are manifestations of that all-knowing mind which kind of makes us real special?
Or are we made of matter like every other creature and our consciousness is a by-product of our language and
cultural conditioning?
Try this simple experiment. Ask your
worst enemy to hit you very hard on your head with an iron bar. On second thoughts that might kill
you and your consciousness goes with you, so don't give your enemy a free kick, and there goes all those
virgins supposedly lining up to reward some people for believing in more after life nonsense and killing
themselves for god knows what cause.
Common sense would strongly suggest consciousness is a by-product of the brain and yet is still
absolutely mysterious and unknowable.
