Who Decides How You Or I Should Live?

Man was not born with a blueprint on how to live, so who decides
how you or I should live?
Therefore whatever blueprint any individual happens to be living
by is mainly a weird mixture of what he is taught at school, plus his own investigations, plus his parents’
teachings, plus his society, plus his religion, plus his life experiences, plus his peer influences and so
on.
The vast majority of the population never consciously examine the
nature and effectiveness of their life philosophies*, and indeed would probably not know what we are
referring to by this term.
What a man is taught at school, at least in western countries is
heavily influenced by the ancient Greek philosophers such as Plato and Aristotle and more recent philosophers
such as Kant and all types of intellectuals and religious leaders, and unless a person studies philosophy,
psychology, theology & sociology, and then makes up his own mind on the best way to live, he will mainly
be living a second-hand life philosophy that he is not even conscious of.
The basic motivation of human life is the urge to self-esteem. The
basic questions that a person wants answers for is “What is the meaning of my life?” “Who am I?” and “What
value does my life have?” and most people never give themselves time and space to delve into these vital life
topics.
* A philosophy of life is an
overall vision or attitude toward life and the purpose of life.
